Great weather + safe dining = open-air restaurants in Karachi!
The second wave is sweeping the nation as educational institutes close down, smart lockdowns are implemented, and business hours are shortened. Indoor weddings and dining has also been stopped in Karachi. However, you can still head out for a relaxing meal by exploring the best open-air restaurants in Karachi!
Open Air Restaurants at Do Darya
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
Do Darya is the pinnacle of dining experiences in Karachi. Nothing can beat great food by the water. If you’ve ever been to any of the restaurants at Do Darya, you know how great the calm and peaceful ambiance is.
These are the best restaurants to try at Do Darya and take advantage of Karachi’s winter weather.
Kolachi
Kolachi is the first restaurant that comes to mind when one thinks of Do Darya, and for all the right reasons.
The open-air restaurant offers some delicious food and even better service. Prices are a bit on the higher side, but the complete experience makes up for it.
Our favourites to try to Kolachi are the Paneer Reshmi Handi and Sulemani Karahi.

Kababjees
Another prominent name on the Do Darya strip is Kababjees. At its peak, the restaurant had over six branches across Karachi.
The Do Darya location is their flagship branch with a very large seating capacity. Prices are a tad more reasonable compared to Kolachi, while the food still tastes great.
The Mutton Chullu Kabab and Rango Kabab are a must-try at Kababjees. Both are priced at PKR 799 and 749, respectively.

Open Air Restaurants at Highway
Looking towards the complete opposite side of the city. Restaurants at Highway offer a similar open air experience, albeit except for the sea.
An advantage of dining here is that these restaurants are even bigger than those at Do Darya. So you can dine in complete satisfaction that table settings will be following social distancing measures.
Here are the best restaurants to try at Karachi’s Highway.
Khansaab
Khansaab is not one of the first restaurants that made Karachi’s Super Highway a popular food spot. However, it made it more accessible by improving the dining experience for families.
We recommend you try the BBQ Platter at Khansaab. Plenty for six hungry adults, the platter features generous helpings of the restaurant’s best BBQ varieties. For PKR 6,000, you get Mutton Kabab, Mutton Chops, Prawns, Fish Tikka, Chicken Tandoori Boti, Shish Toauk, and Afghani Boti nestled on a bed of Afghani Pulao.
Sajjad Restaurant
Sajjad is one of the original highway restaurants. Over the years, it has improved the food and made it more accessible to families. Similar to Khansaab, the dining experience has been improved many folds.
Sajjad offers both Pakistani and Continental varieties. We recommend you stick to the restaurant’s specialty Pakistani dishes. The Peshawari Mutton Karahi is a must-try at Sajjad. Prepared in tomato, black pepper, and hot spices, the Karahi is served on a hot charcoal stand. Half Karahi costs PKR 1,275 while the full will run you PKR 2,050.

Open Air Restaurants at Keemari
The cool winter weather is the perfect time to devour some seafood, and there’s no better place than the Keemari food street.
The food street rose to popularity a few years ago thanks to the virality of a few vlogs. Since then, various restaurants have been serving diners delicious fish, prawns, and much more.
The open-air experience is very much present here with one slight niggle. The dining experience is not very family-friendly. With that in mind, let’s dive into the two best restaurants at Keemari Seafood Street.
Rashid SeaFood
In a food strip peppered with only seafood BBQ restaurants, Rashid SeaFood rises to the top, and for a good reason. The restaurant offers some of the best fish, prawns, and lobster at Keemari. We also covered Rashid Seafood in the best fish places in Karachi.
You can get various fish, including pomfret, mushka, and red snapper, either char-grilled or fried. Various Karahis are also available in addition to prawns and lobster. All prices are per KG. We recommend getting fish and prawns grilled for the best flavors.

Mashallah Fish And BBQ
Mashallah Fish & BBQ is also one of the first restaurants to pop up at Keemari. Both restaurants are right next to each other and, as such, offer a very similar experience.
In contrast to Rashid SeaFood, Mashallah Fish offers a few more varieties of fish. Here, surmai, kund, and dhotar are also available. A similar variety of prawns and karahis are offered.

If you can’t head out all the way to Keemari, both restaurants do also deliver.
These were some of the best open-air restaurants in Karachi. However, if you don’t feel like going out for dining, almost all Karachi restaurants have expanded delivery areas. These times are incredibly difficult for small local businesses. Your support could be the difference between the restaurant surviving or closing down.
Stay home, stay safe, and support small businesses!
