Let’s begin by first acknowledging that nihari is one of the best things to eat in Pakistan. Hey, I’d even argue that it is one of the best things to eat period.

Nihari has been around since the Mughal era, and its popularity has only grown with time. This is evident by the increasing number of restaurants serving nihari today.

However, the classic nihari, a crimson-red spicy curry with succulent meat that melts in your mouth and is topped with adrak, dhaniya, and a squeeze of limoon (if you know, you know), is only available at a few places in Karachi city.

Their OG branch is located in Saddar, on the main MA Jinnah Road. However, if you don’t like the adventure of traveling to Saddar, then Sabiri has a branch in DHA, Phase 5 as well.

Also, the best thing about Zahid is that they offer extra curry free of cost, which is a pleasure for saalan lovers like me.

Their nihari has the good stuff and the right blend of spices and is served with all the lawaazimaat.

Moreover, Malik’s has two locations, one on Burns Road and the other on Alamgir Road in Bahadurabad, so you can enjoy their nihari at whichever branch is nearer to you.

People come from all over Pakistan to have nihari at Javed’s, even though it is a hassle to get some at their original branch in Karachi’s Dastagir area.

Luckily, they have opened another branch at Sharfabad, which is more accessible with the same well-known taste.
